About the Program

Leadership Is Relationship™ (LIR) focuses on how participants operate— that is, think, feel, communicate, and actin the workplace. Establishing the ongoing practice of self-awareness in participants (observing themselves in thought, feeling and action) is the key to real change and professional growth. The skills they learn over a six-month period transform the way they interact with others at work as well as the way they understand and conduct themselves as managers and leaders.

LIR coaches business professionals to develop the performance and relationship skills necessary to make them outstanding leaders. They learn to:

  • Listen objectively and responsively
  • Communicate clearly and effectively
  • Notice and change limiting thinking patterns and beliefs
  • Manage moods and emotions of self and others
  • Take confident and highly effective action
  • Be actively responsible and accountable
  • Resolve conflicts to everyone’s benefit
  • Build and sustain powerful, trusting working relationships

Leadership Is Relationship™ is designed for middle- and upper-level managers, as well as for key employees with significant responsibility in organizations. LIR is a synthesis of instruction and skill-building supported by one-on-one telephone coaching sessions that maximize learning and integration.

The larger intent of the program is to focus participants’ attention on being keen and curious observers of themselves as professional people and as participants in the life of their company. Their success and the success of the company depend upon skillfully navigating the complexities of human interactions—that is, relationships. The LIR program introduces, establishes and stabilizes these crucial skills as integral to their daily performance on the job.
