About Business Coaching
Coaching is a conversation that takes place over time between a coach and a coachee. The purpose of this respectful, inquiring form of dialogue is to assist the coachee in becoming a more effective and self-realized professional person. Specifically, the coachee learns to better understand how he or she operates in the business world and, through self-reflection and the guidance of the coach, alter thinking, feeling and behaviour patterns to create more satisfying results in his or her work life.
The coach’s role is to:
- Listen for how to assist the coachee in realizing professional and personal growth
- Ask questions that expand and deepen the coachee’s awareness of how his or her business world works
- Inspire the coachee to create extraordinary results for the company’s future and for him or herself
- Be a resource for the coachee’s accomplishment of his or her goals
- Introduce and teach tools for developing leadership, self-awareness and relationship skills
The coachee’s role is to:
- Commit to goals that are truly meaningful and significant
- Actively experiment with new approaches and behaviors
- Regularly share his or her experiences with the coach
- Be open to receiving feedback from the coach
- Take ownership of progress and accomplishments
The relationship of trust built between coach and coachee models what is possible to achieve as a self-aware leader working with others in the business world.
